The Hawks’ in Limpopo have arrested former Lepelle Nkumpi Municipal Supply Chain Officer aged 36 and her 26-year-old accomplice in Lebowakgomo on Tuesday morning.

It is alleged that the two sisters enjoyed tenders between 2018 and 2020 of which they allegedly bid at the municipality using the credentials of a company director who was serving time in prison.

Limpopo Hawks’ spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said the matter was brought to their attention and the investigation started. “During the investigation, it was established that the accomplice is a girlfriend to the director of the company whose credentials were used. The municipality suffered a loss of about R150 000.”

The suspects are expected to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 2 September 2021 to face corruption, fraud and theft charges.

These two latest arrests by the Hawks comes after 15 suspects were arrested this week at the Mogalakwena Local Municipality for corruption. These are set to appear at Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
