The African National Congress (ANC) management on Wednesday received notice from its staff that as of Thursday, 26 August 2021 will go on strike in support of grievances submitted on the 15 of June 2021, including late payments.
ANC Spokesperson Pule Mabe said as a result of this strike, ANC offices throughout the country will be closed. “The ANC management will continue to engage with staff representatives on their grievances, with a to fina a solution so that we can resume normal operations.”
This is not the first time that the ruling party fails to pay its staff. Last year, ANC has told its staff and managers that their September salaries will be made no later than 9 October 2020.
The financial challenge in the Luthuli House was laid bare in December 2019 when salaries were delayed and also in June 2020.
