The Klerksdorp Magistrates Court on Monday postponed the case against a 38-year-old man charged with raping his 12-year-old daughter to 02 September 2021 for the docket to be availed. The accused previously appeared in the same court on 07 July 2021 for bail application and it was denied.
North West National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Spokesperson Henry Mamothame said the man is charged for allegedly raping his daughter at his residential home in Jourberton near Klerksdorp. “The first rape incident allegedly took place on 31 May 2021. He allegedly raped her again the following day.”
Mamothame added that the accused was confirmed to be a parolee who was convicted for a similar offence in the year 2008. He was then released on parole in 2016. “ His parole is set to expire on 23 December 2023.”
The child allegedly reported these rape incidents to her grandmother from her maternal side of the family and later reported them to the police.The child was allegedly staying with the accused following her mother’s death.
The accused will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
