10 people appear in court following unrests

Ten people appeared in the Verulam Magistrates Court on Monday on various charges relating to the unrest that took place in parts of the greater Durban area two weeks ago. The charges include murder, attempted murder, possession of the stolen property, malicious injury to property, unlawful possession of Firearms and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

KZN National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Kara said the matters were held in camera to protect the identity of the accused persons as identity parades are yet to be conducted.

These matters were remanded to Friday, 30 July 2021 for bail consideration.
