The Police in Malamulele outside Giyani, Limpopo on Friday 23 July 2021 arrested six suspects aged between 23 and 33 after being positively linked to a case of carjacking.
The suspects, four males and two women, are believed to be members of a syndicate of robberies in the Vhembe and Mopani Districts.
Limpopo Police Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said preliminary investigation revealed that the two female suspects posed as prostitutes and tricked unsuspecting victims. “They would stand on the side of the road and start explaining to the motorists about their business and in the middle of negotiations, their accomplice would emerge from the bushes and rob the victims of their belongings.”
Mojapelo added that during the arrest, the police confisticated seven cells-phones, a laptop and three keys for VW and one for Ford.
Limpopo Police Commissioner-General Thembi Hadebe commended the Detectives for their responsive investigation that led to the arrest of these criminals.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 July 2021.
