The National Taxi Alliance says it is once more sidelined in the Minister’s plan of visiting taxi ranks in the Gauteng province. The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, the Acting Minister of Health, Mammoloko Kubayi and the Acting Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni will be monitoring  COVID-19  regulations compliance at Pretoria Taxi Ranks on Thursday.

NTA spokesperson Theo Malele said clearly Minister Mbalula is “short-sighted” by ignoring a critical stakeholder and compromising the health of law-abiding citizens.

Malele added that NTA commands greater support in Gauteng province by far and yet it is not invited to the event. “We’re not amazed because it is us who, adviced the President after announcing the roll out plans for the vaccination of critical Frontline workers and omitted the taxi industry, it’s been us again, who has been complaining about the non-payment of the Covid 19 relief fund.”

Malele added that they have litigated the office of the minister and his department. “No wonder we’re snubbed, without taking the lives of the committing masses into account. The minister is playing politics even when not necessary.”
