Nine people were killed and six others escaped with injuries on Wednesday, in a horrific accident involving a bakkie and a kombi. The accident happened at Nwanetsi bridge next to Kubjwana village in Bolobedu.
It is alleged that the two vehicles collided head-on, killing nine people instantly.
The spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matome Moremi Taueatsoala said the deceased include the driver of the VW Amarok bakkie and eight passengers from the Toyota Quantum kombi. “Five people were rushed to Vanvelden hospital for medical treatment.”
MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya sent messages of condolences to the families of nine people who perished in the accident. She has called on motorists to be cautious and reduce speed.
