The Mpumalanga Department of Education says it is disturbed by recorded visuals that have gone viral on social media. The video shows learners fighting in what seemed to be a racial fight involving Witbank Technical High School at Emalahleni Local Municipality
The spokesperson for the Department, Jasper Zwane said this conduct by some of the learners at this school is condemned with the most severity it deserves.
“A school is a place where teaching and learning must reign supreme within an environment that is at all times safe and free from any form of intimidation, violence and abuse of what ever form .”
The MEC for Education, Bonakele Majuba will visit the school on Thursday, 10 June 2021 at 11H00 as part of an effort to establish the circumstances that led to this incident and “to ensure that those who are behind this behaviour brought to book”.
