The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) says it is shattered following a fire incident that guttered down the Area Commissioner’s house at about 21H00 on Tuesday, 8 June 2021.
The Department said devastatingly, the wife to the Area Commissioner and two children did not survive the inferno.
The spokesperson for the department, Singabakho Nxumalo said only the Area Commissioner and the youngest daughter managed to escape through the window. “The Fire Department did respond to extinguish the flames but sadly the three had already succumbed to death.”
Nxumalo added that the cause of the fire is not yet known at this stage and an investigation will contunue.
Nxumalo further said Area Commissioner and his daughter are currently in hospital and trauma counselling will be availed to staff members.
