One hundred and ten more people died of Coronavirus in South Africa over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 56 711. Gauteng recorded 54 deaths, Free State 11, Limpopo 11, Northern Cape 7, Western Cape 3, Mpumalanga 4 and KwaZulu-Natal 4 and North West 16.
The Country recorded 5 782 news cases. The number of Covid 19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 675 013.
The tests conducted to date is 11 713 400. The recovery now stands at 1 565 684 which translates to a 93.5% recovery rate.
The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased.
The number of people vaccinated under the Sisonke programme to date is 479 768. The health department said the total number of people vaccinated under Phase Two with the first dose of Pfizer vaccine is 637 801. Therefore the total number of individuals vaccinated is 1 117 569.
People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
