The Molopo Magistrates Court on Monday, 01 June 2021 postponed the theft case against the suspended Head of Special Commercial Crimes Unit (SCCU) in the North West, Advocate Jeanette Nevelling (53) to 02 August 2021.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in North West, Henry Mamothame said Advocate Nevelling appeared without legal representative. “She indicated to the court that her attorney had withdrawn from representing her. She also informed the court of her new legal representative who could not be in court owing to other commitments.”
Nevelling was arrested on 16 February 2021 on an allegation of shoplifting at a retail shop, at The Crossing Shopping Mall in Mmabatho. She allegedly stole clothing and food items valued at approximately R3000. She has since been suspended by the NPA pending internal disciplinary proceedings.
Mamothame said her R500 bail has been extended until her next court appearance.
