The Greytown Regional Court, in KwaZulu-Natal sentenced Skhumbuzo Manke Ngema (47) to life imprisonment for murder and 18 years imprisonment for robbery. On 17 November 2020 , just after midnight, an elderly woman Nobele Khalelani Ndebele (80) was asleep in her home at Makhabeleni area in Kranskop, when an unknown man broke into her house.
Captain Nqobile Gwala said an elderly woman was stabbed multiple times on her body with a spear and was declared dead at the scene. “She was also robbed of cash by the male that fled the scene after the incident. Charges of murder and robbery were opened for investigation at Kranskop SAPS.”
Gwala added that during the investigation, it appeared that the victim was killed by her neighbour.
“After four days, the accused was traced and arrested at his place of residence in Makhabeleni. He was also found in possession of some of the cash that was taken during the robbery.”
Gwala further said Ngema was tried in court and he made several court appearances until his sentence.
