Two police officers arrested for Corruption

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) arrested a 35-yea- old female Constable together with a 33-year-old male Constable on 18 May 2021 in Khutsong. The pair is facing corruption charges.

It is alleged that on Saturday 15 August 2020 ,two police Constables attached to Khutsong SAPS Visible Police Unit went to a household in Khayalethu Section where they found the complainant with her family members.

IPID spokesperson Ndileka Cola said the police found pineapple beer inside the buckets. “They confiscated the liquor and arrested the complainant. The allegation is that the police officers demanded R2500.00 so that they could let the complainant go. “

Cola added that the police then drove back to the complainant’s house where the complainant allegedly gave R2500,00 to the two police officers. “Further with the cash, the police allegedly left with pineapple liquor, of which they never booked the liquor or the buckets in the Police Station.”

The pair will appear before Oberholzer Magistrate in Carltonville on Wednesday 19 May 2021.
