72 Covid-19 deaths in South Africa in the last 24 hours

Seventy two more people died of Coronavirus in South Africa over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 54 986. Gauteng recorded 27 deaths, Northern Cape 4, Western Cape 12, Eastern Cape 6, Mpumalanga 5 and KwaZulu-Natal 5.

The tests conducted to date is 10 968 926.The recovery now stands at 1 519 734 which translates to a 95% recovery rate.

People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.

The health department conveyed condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanked the health workers who treated the deceased.

The number of Health Care Workers Vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol to date is 430 730.
