School Governing Body chairperson to appear in Court for murder

A School Governing Body Chairperson is due to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday for murder. This follows a meeting which was held on Friday, 07 May 2021 where violence erupted resulting in a 22-year-old man being stabbed to death.

Mpumalanga Police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard said  the Information at the disposal of the police indicates that the meeting was held at Duvhapark Primary  School at Emalahleni allegedly to address concerns by some community  members.

“As the meeting was in progress, a scuffle broke out amongst attendees of the meeting  resulting in the suspect allegedly stabbing another man. The victim was then taken to hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries.”

Hlathi added that the Police were then notified about the stabbing incident leading to the arrest of the 43 year old man.

Mpumalanga Acting Police Commissioner General Thulani Phahla strongly condemned this incident and made a clarion call to members of the public to desist from using violence to resolve conflicts and disagreements.

” One can never achieve anything good through violence instead violent actions often breed devastating consequences such as the loss of life.”
