The on-fire Mamelodi Sundowns has beaten up Orlando Pirates 3-0 in the DStv Premiership League at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Sundowns came to this game with a mentality of a must-win after AmaZulu FC topped the log with 50 points, replacing Sundowns.
However, the Tshwane side had a fire burning inside them and in the first half, the game went to break with 0 all score.
The second half kicked off and the Pirates’ defence was caught sleeping. It was Ricardo Nascimento who converted the penalty after Innocent Maela did not put his hands at the back as Peter Shalulile’s shot struck Maela’s hand. The referee pointed to the penalty spot. All at the 58 minutes.
Furthermore, it was captain Thulani Hlatshwayo who made an error at the back and Shalulile was thankful and scored the second goal.
With the Lyle Lakay coming in the second half, he scored a stunning free-kick that left Wayne Sandilands to only watch the goal going in. AmaZulu FC will now have to fight deeper to challenge Sundowns that is two games behind with 51 points on top.
