The Police in KwaZulu-Natal arrested eight suspects on Friday, 23 April 2021 and recovered eleven firearms following a robbery on a farm in Mooi River.
The victim was in his office on Friday at the farm when two vehicles with five men arrived. The men entered his office and held him up at gunpoint. KZN police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker said the suspects robbed the victim of his jewellery, laptops, a watch, cellphone, firearms and the contents of the safe.
“The victim’s legs and hands were tied before the suspects fled the scene in their vehicles. One of the suspect’s vehicles was spotted travelling at a high speed on the N3 freeway towards Pietermaritzburg.”
Naicker said following a high-speed chase, the police were able to stop the vehicle at Camperdown where five suspects including a female were placed under arrest. The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi applauded police officers and security officials for their swift response.
The eight suspects, who are aged between 24 and 51, are expected to appear in court soon in connection with the robbery.
