Fourty-nine people died of Coronavirus in South Africa over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 52 946. Gauteng recorded 16 deaths, Eastern Cape 1, Free State 3, Western Cape 6 and KwaZulu-Natal 22 Mpumalanga 1.
The tests conducted to date is 9 939 695 with 27 622 tests completed since the last report.
The recovery now stands at 1 475 398 which translates to a 95% recovery rate.
People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
The number of health care workers vaccinated under the Sisonke protocol remains 269 102.
