490 arrested for different crimes in North West

The police in North West province arrested 490 suspects from Monday, 22 until Friday 26 March 2021, for different crimes during provincial suspect raiding operations. 

Of the 490 arrests, 299 were for contact crimes such as murder, rape, assaults with intent to do grievous bodily harm, robbery, assault and attempted rape.

Captain Aafje Botma said the other suspects were held for various other crimes such as malicious damage to property, contravention of protection order, theft, burglary residential and business and stock theft. 

“The suspects were arrested at all four districts and they include 59 that were affected by Specialised Units.”said Botma. 

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena thanked detectives for the arrests.

Botma said most of the suspects have already appeared before courts while others are expected to appear on Monday, 29 March 2021.
