52 082 Covid-19 death toll

Fourty seven people died of Coronavirus in South Africa over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 52 082. Gauteng recorded 9 deaths, KwaZulu-Natal 21, Eastern Cape 2, Free State 3, Western Cape 3 and Mpumalanga 9.

The tests conducted to date is 9 611 262 with 26 339 new tests recorded since the last report.

The recovery now stands at 1 462 110 which translates to a 95% recovery rate.

People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.

On Saturday 20 March 2021, the Health Department announced that a further 70 000 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines arrived in the country and were dispatched to the various provinces according to respective allocations.
