Former State Security Minister, Bongani Bongo’s former wife, Sandile Nkosi appeared briefly in the Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of corruption and money laundering.

Nkosi joins Bongo and ten others, facing charges of corruption, fraud, theft, money laundering and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Sipho Ngwema said Nkosi, handed herself to the Hawks earlier on Monday morning.

“It is alleged that Nkosi received R1milion from Singwane Attorneys after the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlement (DoHS) paid R52milion to Singwane Attorneys, without any basis for such payment. She never had any business dealings with Singwane Attorneys nor was she a client who gave Singwane Attorneys instructions to institute a civil action for claim of any money.” Said Ngwema.

It is alleged that Singwane Atttorneys were appointed by the DoHS on recommendations by Bongo

Nkosi was released on R10 000 bail on Monday, 08 March 2021 and will appear again in court with ten others on 04 May 2021.
