One thousand seven hundred and ninenty-six suspects aged between 21 and 59 were arrested in Limpopo over the weekend ,for various offences ranging from burglaries, business robberies, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, possession and dealing in drugs and possession of unlicensed firearms
The operations were conducted through roadblocks, patrols, stop and searches and tracing of wanted suspects.
Limpopo Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the police recovered 6 firearms, 5 suspected stolen motor vehicles, 407 sticks of counterfeit cigarettes, 60 dangerous weapons including 33 knives, 178 grams of dagga and cocaine powder.
Ngoepe added that 1860 fines were issued for the contravention of the Road Traffic Act.
Limpopo Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba praised the sterling work done by the men and women in blue throughout the Province and he further urged for more determination and hard work in ensuring that the citizens of this province are safe.
The suspects arrested during these operations are expected to appear before different magistrate’s courts soon across the province.
