Veteran journalist and broadcaster Karima Brown has died from COVID- 19 related complications on Thursday.
Brown hosted several broadcasting shows, most recently The Fix on eNCA, which aired on Sundays. She was a former 702 talk show host.
In a statement released by her family on Thursday morning, Brown was described as prolific and well-known South African journalist and commentator.
“She was a well-loved friend, mentor, mother, colleague, daughter, and confidante to countless people throughout a life lived fully, and with deep commitment to her most cherished values and principles.”
The family said they are massively grateful and humbled by the countless messages of support, and prayers, during Karima’s recent hospitalisation.
“Karima will be laid to rest in a private burial ceremony which will be held in accordance with Islamic rites and traditions. A small number of invited persons will attend the funeral and all Covid-19 regulations will be observed.”
The family said in due course, an announcement will be made about a more public memorial service in honour of Brown’s life.
