A man and three women died instantly when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck on Monday afternoon. The accident happened on R503 between Coligny and Hartebeesfontien near Klerksdorp, in the North West Province.
The Spokesperson for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Oshebeng Koonyaditse said the vehicle was from Mafikeng and carrying passengers to Klerksdorp.
“About seven kilometres just outside Hartebeesfontein, the vehicle carrying a total of six passengers overtook two vehicles one of which was waiting for the oncoming truck to pass before turning to the right. Unfortunately, the truck was too close”
Koonyaditse added that the driver and one male passenger were immediately taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Captain Sam Tselanyane said the police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
