Eighty- one people died of Coronavirus in South Africa over the last 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 48 940 . Gauteng recorded 29 deaths, KwaZulu-Natal 23, Eastern Cape 3, Free State 5 and Western 15.
The tests conducted to date is 8 867 659 with 28 722 new tests recorded since the last report.
The recovery rate now stands at 1 409 553 which translates to 93.8% recovery rate.
People are urged to continue adhering to the health protocols put in place: washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser and always maintain social distance.
President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister Zweli Mkhize reiterated that people can beat this virus if they adhere to be above-mentioned health protocols.
