UMALUSI has approved the release of the 2020 national examination results after successfully conducting the quality assurance of the management and administration of exit examinations.
CEO of Umalusi, Dr Mafu Rakometsi said 2020 will go down in history as the most difficult one since the dawn of democracy in South Africa.
Rakometsi conveyed condolences on behalf of Umalusi to “ the teachers, learners, principals, support staff at public school, private schools, staff members at District and Provincial Education departments who lost their friends and family members due to COVID- 19.”
He further said the investigation into leakage of mathematics paper 2 and Physical science paper 2 questions papers is not yet complete and it is continuing.
The Executive Committee of C ounce( EXCO) commended the Department of Basic Education for conducting a successful and credible examination despite challenges faced during 2020 including Covid 19.
Meanwhile, learners in South Africa on Monday 15 February started their academic year. The school calendar was delayed by two weeks following an increase of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The 2020 matric results will be released on 23 February 2021.
