1 979 People arrested in Limpopo

Limpopo Police say one thousand, nine hundred and seventy-nine (1979) suspects aged between 19 and 60 were arrested during the Intelligence-driven joint Operations conducted across the Province from last week until today, Sunday, 14 February 2021.

The suspects were arrested for various charges that include possession and dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, stock theft, malicious damage to property, assault, robberies, murder, Contravention of the Disaster Management Act, sexual offences, theft, Immigration Act and the Road Traffic Act.

Limpopo Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said amongst the arrested suspects, 540 were for the Disaster Management Act related offences that include, failing to wear masks in the public space, non-compliance on the curfew and liquor trade.

Limpopo Police Commissioner  Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba applauded the members for the exceptional performance displayed during these operations and urged the Police to continue strengthening community participation in the fight against crime.
