Men behind bars for possession of explosives

A 52-year-old man Sam Bekare Nontoloane appeared in the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in Tlhabane on Thursday for possession of explosives.

Colonel Adéle Myburgh said Nontoloane was arrested on Tuesday, 9 February 2021 after police received information that he was in the process of selling explosives.

Myburg said Ntoloane is remanded in custody and he will reappear before the same court on Monday, 22 February 2021.

In another unrelated incident in Khuma, in Potchefstroom, the Illicit Mining Team arrested a 28-year-old suspect on 10 February 2021 in Extension 9.

Colonel Myburg said the suspect was arrested at his place after the team followed up on information received and ultimately found a connector cup fuse inside the house.

The suspect will appear before the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court today, 12 February 2021 on a charge of possession of explosives.

North West Police commissioner Sello Kwena commended the police for their quick response which resulted in the arrest of the alleged perpetrators.
