Gender based violence is discouraged daily but the number of such cases are on the rise. A 24 year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of a 13 year old girl in Thabanatswana village in Sekgosese in Limpopo.
Lerato Ramatsela’s body was discovered by the neighbours in the bushes with her hands tight. The Police were called and they started with an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect.
“It is believed that the young girl was tied and strangled to death. The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but the ongoing Police investigations will tell,” said the police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Tiyani Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 12 February 2021.
