Police Constable pleads guilty of murder

Constable Themba Sangweni who was stationed at Heidelberg Police Station as a detective pleaded guilty of murdering Nomathamsanqa Khoboi and endangering other people’s lives when he shot her on the 08 February 2020 in Vosloorus.

Sangweni appeared at the South Gauteng High Court on Wednesday he has been remanded in prison cells.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson Ndileka Cola said on 08 February 2020  Sangweni and the late 31 year old Nomathamsanqa Khoboi were at a Tarvern in Vosloorus when they had a quarrel over a cellphone that allegedly belonged to Sangweni.

“The accused confronted the deceased for stealing his cellphone after she lured him to have sexual intercourse with him, thereafter robbing him of his cell phone. The deceased denied his cellphone, then the accused fired shots towards Nomathamsanqa, who sustained multiple gun shot wounds leading to her death.”

This case has been postponed to Monday the 08 February 2020 for sentencing.
