SAPS official added to 58 Million Fraud Case

Another member of the SAPS appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on charges of corruption, fraud, forgery, money laundering and theft related to R85m supply chain management fraud matter.

Investigating Directorate Spokesperson Sindisiwe Twala said Jane Mthembu, a lieutenant colonel stationed in the Silverton Police station, became the 45 accused in the SAPS supply chain matter. The case relates to the awarding of the marking and de-marking of SAPS vehicles valued at R56m and cover quoting valued at R29million. 

Twala said Mthembu was also released on R5000 bail. The case was postponed to 25 March 2021 for further investigations. It is expected that all 45 accused will appear together on that date.
