The country and families are set to be divided on Saturday afternoon as the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will be facing each at the DStv Premiership League at Orlando Stadium. The game will kick-off at 15:30 .

Amakhosi hasn’t been having a good record in the derby. The Buccaneers had back to back win against Chiefs in the MTN8 Semi-finals in which Pirates ended up winning it.

However, in the league, Chiefs is still unbeaten in the last latest Soweto Derbies. This weekend’s 48th PSL Soweto Derby will take place without fans due to Covid-19 regulations.

Chiefs’ striker Samir Nurkovic said it is a  dream to play in one of the biggest derbies in Africa. “Playing in big derbies like the Soweto Derby is every player’s dream. I have had the privilege to play three derbies last season and I am happy to be part of this derby again”.

He showed his disappointment of having no fans during derby. “My experience in the derby has been unbelievable thus far. Playing in front of 90 000 spectators is a dream come true for every player. It has exceeded all my expectations. It is unfortunate that this derby will have no supporters at the stadium, but I am sure they will be supporting us from home.”

Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer said Chiefs’ squad is boosted with Nurkovic since Pirates beat Chiefs in the MTN8 without him (Nurkovic).

“We know they have a big squad, good squad and Nurkovic is back and he is a player who gives a team a lot of advantage.” Said the Buccaneers coach.
