Amathole District Municipality in Eastern Cape informed councillors, traditional leaders and all staff that for the month of February, April, May and June 2021, there will be no payment of salaries. In a released statement, Municipal Manager Thandekile Mnyimba said this is due to strained financial resources with the institution.
Mnyimba said the municipality has assessed its cash flow projections for the remainder of financial year 2020/2021 and ascertained that salaries for four months will not be honoured.
Mnyimba added that workers are advised to consult their creditors and advise them accordingly.
