South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) is mourning the death of its General Secretary, Koena Wilson Ramotlou.
SAMWU deputy Secretary Dumisane Magagula said Ramotlou passed away in hospital today following his hospitalization on the 6th December 2020.
Ramotlou was recently elected General Secretary at the union’s 12th National Congress held in December 2020. He also previously served as the union’s Deputy General Secretary after having have been elected to that position in 2015 at the union’s 11th National Congress.
“The National Office Bearers of SAMWU take this opportunity to, on behalf of the country’s municipal workers extend sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Ramotlou family, his wife Mokgadi and his children.” Said Magagula in a statement.
Ramotlou was 42 years old.
