Two hundred and ninety people died in South Africa over the last 24 hours after contracting coronavirus, Eastern Cape 115, Free State 6, Gauteng 23, Kwa-Zulu Natal 27 and Western Cape 107, Limpopo 10 and Mpumalanga 5 .
This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 26 276.
A total of 983 359 COVID-19 cases have been identified with 14 796 infections identified.
So far, 830 251 people have recovered from COVID-19 in South Africa. People are urged to observe the health measures put in place, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and to wash hash with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser.
