Two Women arrested for manufacturing counterfeit goods

Two women of Chinese nationality, were arrested on Wednesday 23, December 2020 in Garsfontein In Tshwane East for manufacturing counterfeit goods.

Police confiscated food products such as yeast, baking powder, toothpaste, as well as shoe polish.

Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said police also seized machinery suspected of being utilised in the manufacturing of said counterfeit goods. An undisclosed amount of cash was seized from the suspects.

Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the collaboration between the community and law enforcement, which continues to add value to the SAPS efforts to deal decisively with participants and facilitators of the illicit economy.

The pair will appear in a court yet to be determined, in due course.
