The Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu is urging all parents and caregivers to remain vigilant over the festive season and to ensure the protection of children at all times.
“Traditionally, this is a time of the year we invite our families and friends to reflect and celebrate the gift of life. Sadly, this is also the time of the year that our children are at their most vulnerable, as parents/caregivers tend to keep their guard down amidst the festivities.” said Minister Zulu.
Research shows that perpetrators of abuse are known to children and parents/caregivers are urged to establish an open line of communication with their children . Be aware of their whereabouts and to know the other children with whom their children interact with as well as monitor their online activities.
