Two learners who attended Matlhare Moholo Primary and Tselaathuto Secondary in Itereleng village near Pampierstad in the Northwest died last week Saturday when a wall fell on them.

North West Education Spokesperson Elias Malindi said according to family reports, the two learners were from the shops when the storm hit their area and caused a wall to fall on them.

Another learner at Molelema Primary School in Taung drowned in a windmill dam on Monday, 14 December 2020.

North West MEC for Education Mmaphefo Matsemela sent condolences to the bereaved families and pleaded with parents to be vigilant of their kids’ whereabouts.

“I wish to extend a message of caution to parents to keep an eye on children as some are likely to play near furrows and quarries during holidays. Please ensure that they play where you can see them to avoid unfortunate incidents”, emphasised Matsemela.

The learners will be laid to rest tomorrow.
