One hundred and seventy people died in South Africa after contracting coronavirus, Eastern Cape 94, Free State 11, Gauteng 3 , Kwa-Zulu Natal 4, Northern Cape 4 and Western Cape 54. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 23 276 .
Since the last report, 860 964 COVID-19 cases have been reported with 7 999 new cases identified.
People are urged to adhere to health protocols in place, wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands with water and soap or with alcohol-based sanitizer.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize reiterated a plea to South Africans to take note of the threat of the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases identified.
