Vodacom cell phone tower batteries stolen

Two suspects aged 42 and 44 were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing Vodacom cell-phone tower batteries.

It is alleged that two suspects were arrested in a “Buy and Bust” operation in Patensie, Eastern Cape.

Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson Lwando Zenzile said six brand new Vodacom cell phone tower batteries still in their boxes, were also recovered during the arrest.

“It is suspected that these batteries were stolen directly either from Vodacom warehouse or the battery supplier. The value of the batteries is estimated at R 240 000.00” said Zenzile

The two suspects are expected to make their first appearance in Hankey Magistrate Court on Monday 14 December 2020.
