The Premier of Gauteng David Makhura made changes into his cabinet after the Personal Productive Equipments (PPEs) looting affected the government.
The fired health MEC Dr Bandile Masuku was fingered to have allowed the looting. Therefore, Makhura on Wednesday appointed the permanent MEC for the portfolio ,after Jacob Mamabolo held it on a temporary basis.
Makhura appointed Dr Thembi Mokgethi as the new health MEC. She is being moved from social development. He went on to announce Morakane Mosupyoe as a new Social development MEC.
In order to revive the economy of the province, Makhura said the former Joburg mayor Parks Tau will be sworn in as the new MEC for Economic Development, Agriculture and Environment once all necessary legal and administrative processes are completed.
“This portfolio is critical in driving our plan to grow the economy and create jobs in our province. Tau has a wealth of experience accumulated over many years as both MMC and Mayor in the City of Joburg.” Said Makhura.
