20 671 Covid-19 death toll in SA

One hundred and fifteen more people died in South Africa after contracting coronavirus, 43 from Eastern Cape ,23 from Gauteng, 15 from Western Cape, 42 from Gauteng , 23 from Free State, 9 from KwaZulu Natal and 2 from Mpumalanga. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 20 671.

Over the last 24 hours, the number of detected Covid-19 cases is 759 658 with 2 514 new cases identified.

The number of tests conducted to date is 5 214 036 with 24 456 new tests conducted since the last report.

The recovery rate is 92,6 % meaning that 702 544 people have so far recovered.

People are urged to adhere to safety measures in place, wearing mask and maintaining social distance and to always sanitize their hands or wash them with soap and water.
