Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu on Sunday, 08 November 2020, launched the R 128, 000, 000.00 Kempton Village Social Housing Project in the heart of Kempton Park, City of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng.
Minister Sisulu was joined by amongst others, the Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Mzwandile Masina and Chairperson of SHRA, Ms Bathabile Dlamini.
The project is part of Social Housing Regulatory Authority’s (SHRA) ambitious drive to provide affordable rental housing for the people of South Africa.
To qualify for social housing, a household income should be between R1500 – R 15000, 21 years and older. Be a South African or permanent resident with a clean credit record, married or single and with or without dependants. Be able to pay the required monthly rental and competent to contract.
Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) period, 2019-2024 is expected to deliver 30 000 units across the country.
