The 10 men accused of being in possession of suspected stolen property and possession of housebreaking implements were remanded in custody until Monday, 9 November 2020.They appeared at the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Friday 29 October 2020.
North West police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspects were on Wednesday, 28 October arrested by Mooinooi Detectives and Brits Tactical Response Team (TRT) following a tip-off about suspicious armed men who were spotted at a certain house in Matamong informal settlement, outside Brits.
“It is alleged that the accused aged between 23 and 34 were found at their rented place where two shacks were searched. During the search, police found three unlicensed 9mm pistols and a rifle, 38 rounds of ammunition, suspected stolen goods such as cell phones, a pair of takkies, computer monitor and various tools.”
He added that further investigation revealed that one of the firearms was reported stolen in Tsakane, Gauteng Province.
Investigation into the matter continues.
