A 40-year-old Limpopo father and a 25-year-old boyfriend appeared before Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of rape and statutory rape for allegedly raping a 15-year old teen girl.
Their arrests came after the father from a village in the Giyani policing area, went out to look for the victim after she left their home since Saturday, 24 October 2020.
Police provincial spokesperson colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the father successfully traced her until he found her at her alleged boyfriend’s place. Immediately after that, he took her to the police station to open a case of statutory rape against the boyfriend.
“It was then revealed that the victim’s father also raped her on separate occasions in 2019 and 2020 and thereafter threatened her not tell anyone.”
Both suspects were denied bail and their cases were postponed until 04 November 2020 for formal bail application and for further Police investigations.
