Eight people, including a 3-month- old baby died on Saturday when two vehicles collided head-on along the Ganyesa and Vryburg Road in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District. The vehicles burst into flames immediately after the collision, making it difficult to rescue passengers who were trapped. Three women were burnt beyond recognition .
The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari sent condolences to the bereaved families.
“We would like to pass our deepest condolences to the families of all the deceased and wish them strength during this difficult time. It is difficult to accept the passing of a loved one. It is even more so when the passing is as tragic as this one”, said MEC Lehari. He cautioned motorists to be extra careful.
Northwest Police are investigating a culpable homicide case.
