The last games of the quarter finals of the MTN 8 was played on Sunday when Kaizer Chiefs knocked Maritzburg United out of the tournament with a 2-1 score at the FNB stadium.
The KwaZulu-Natal side started to score in the first half through Thabiso Kutumela’s shot t9 give United a lead at the 35 minutes. Chiefs was put under pressure during the first half.
However, the newly appointed Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt made changes by replacing Lazarous Kambole with Leonardo Castro. Castro made the defence of the United to work which later the Phefeni Boys managed to get two goals in a space of 2 minutes.
The left back Yagan Sasman scored two goals for Chiefs in 73 and 75 minutes respectively to see that Maritzburg is sent out of the MTN 8.
Meanwhile in the capital city, Bloemfontein Celtic kicked out the Mamelodi Sundowns in the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane in the last game of the quarter finals by 1-0 through Victor Letsoalo.
