The sentencing of a Former Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officer was postponed by the South Gauteng High Court on Wednesday.

Former EMPD Senior member, Adam Cummings was convicted of 3 counts of rape and 1 human trafficking. His co-accused Tebogo Maregele was convicted as an accomplice to rape of 9 year-old and 2 counts of exploitation of children for financial gain.

IPID Spokesperson Ndileka Cola said the allegation IPID investigated was that Cummings paid Maregele to lure young girls between the ages of 8 and 15, around Soweto.

‘Maragele took the girls to Cummings and he drove with them to Avalon Cemetery where he showed them his service firearm and raped them.”

The South Gauteng High Court postponed this matter to the 2 December 2020 for sentencing. Cummings remains in custody since his conviction in May 2019.
