NUMSA ends Gautrain Strike

Gautrain workers are expected to return to work on Thursday October 15th.  The workers embarked on a wage dispute strike on October 5th.

The National Union of Metalworkers (NUMSA) has signed a wage proposal offered by the management of Gautrain, the Bombela Operating Company (BOC) thus resulting in the ending of the strike.

NUMSA General Secretary  Irvin Jim said the agreement include the following, “Lower income earners earning up to and including R8500 per month will receive a R900 per month increase. Employees earning between R8501 to R20 000 per month will receive R850 per month increase.”
 All employees who earn more than 20 000 will receive a 4.1 per cent increase. The increase will be backdated to the 1st July 2020.”
