The Hawks in Limpopo arrested a 52-year- old Warrant Officer on Tuesday for alleged corruption.

The suspect who is stationed at Westernberg police station, allegedly extorted money from the victim who was arrested for dealing in drugs in order to make his docket disappear.

He reportedly received R6000 from the victim and kept on going for more money from the victim. In order to put a stop to this, the victim reported the matter to the Hawks.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said the suspect was arrested in the capital city immediately after receiving a R6000 bribe from the victim.

When the suspect was arrested, he was found with more than R27 000 in cash.

He will be making his first court appearance in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon to face corruption and extortion charges
